Job Title: Broadcast Network Engineer

Reports to: Chief Engineer


To provide professional technical support to Bonneville Seattle radio stations including maintenance and construction of the digital on air studios, provide technical support for all platforms of broadcast transmission, provide end user IT support of hardware, software and systems including design and maintenance of documentation. Coordinate and engineer remote broadcasts.  Manage all building systems.


  1. Perform electronic and mechanical maintenance (routine and emergency) on all digital and analog equipment in the broadcast studios including electronic wiring on equipment construction and installation
  2. Provide end user IT support on hardware, software and systems with excellent customer support.
  3. Provide technical support for audio and video streaming platforms.
  4. Maintain proper maintenance and operation of analog and HD Transmitters, STL Microwave, translators, UHF and VHF transmitters and transceivers.
  5. FCC and EAS rules and regulation knowledge and compliance
  6. Maintaining on air audio automation and switching programs and systems.
  7. Coordinate and engineer remote broadcasts including ordering broadcast lines, coordinate with other staff members, and other engineers, maintain remote broadcast locations, stadiums and other locations, maintain remote kits and remote broadcast equipment.
  8. Perform internal and external building maintenance of HVAC, electrical and plumbing and grounds.
  9. Use ticketing system tracking to track support tickets, maintain efficiency and catalogue issues.
  10. Resolve trouble tickets in a reasonable amount of time
  11. Continually grow knowledge and understanding of all audio and video paths from studio to distribution platforms.
  12. Continually grow knowledge and understanding of network structure and on air systems AXIA, Audio Vault and News Boss.
  13. Continually grow knowledge and understanding of IT Networks, server, switches and switch management, computer hardware and required skills to make repairs.
  14. Responsible for the monitoring and operation of the transmitter while on shift via remote control.
  15. Responsible for the monitoring and operation of all streams while on shift.
  16. FCC inspections and assist with proof measurements as needed.
  17. Mentor and train other support engineers and junior engineers.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Excellent trouble shooting skills with network wiring, switches and software including IP routing and sub-netting.
  • Strong self-motivator and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Pays attention to details to ensure work is conducted to best of abilities.
  • Works well both in a team environment and independently.
  • Network trouble shooting skills and ability to make routine and emergency repair
  • Proficient with IT based digital systems including studio and audio distribution, broadcast condoles, routers, switches, digital editors and automation systems.
  • Excellent soldering skills.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills, including friendly approachable demeanor, patience, when dealing with difficult users and an ability to maintain a calm level-headed approach while under pressure or in a difficult situation.
  • Ability to create digital and written documentation.
  • Able to adapt to emerging technologies
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Valid driver's license and proven ability to drive safely without exposing the company to serious liability or risks.
  • Works assigned regular hours with flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet deadlines including weekends, holidays, evenings, etc.
  • Work in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management, and clients.


  • Experience with active directory, group policy and network switches and network architecture
  • Experience with Mac computing hardware and software
  • Experience working with both FM and AM transmitters
  • 1-3 years of experience in an IT or network position


  • Receive, process and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
  • Substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good hand and eye coordination.
  • Able to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds on occasion.
